The weather in the coming days will be back in the 50's. Even today the snow piles were so full of water they have reduced in size by quite a substantial amount.
The crew will be working to make sure intersections are clear, and snow piles are leveled off to ensure visibility for traffic. We will continue to work on alleyways that will remain sloppy for the next few days.
If you have a concern about an area please call myself or city hall directly and we will send the plow trucks your way.
Back to the main reason:
The cost to move the snow we currently have on main street would run $7,000 to $10,000 dollars for just this snow event. Mother Nature will do the same thing for us in about 4 or 5 days. To give you a perspective this one event for our city equals about 7% of your property taxes (IF WE HAULED TODAY) . By letting warmer weather do it's work it is one way we have been able to keep property taxes lower and offset the increases in fuel costs over the past few years. Just look at it as measure we use to keep property taxes down.
As always give me a call with questions or concerns.
